SV Villa: A Fusion of Contemporary Design and Countryside Living

The inspiration behind SV Villa was to create a modern home in the heart of the city that offers the benefits of rural living. The design incorporates traditional elements such as tile roofs, stone, ceramics, brick, and solid wood beams. The use of passive energy solutions and local materials further enhances the sustainability of the house.

One of the unique features of SV Villa is its relationship with the surrounding environment. The garden and its elements establish a connection between the interior and the exterior. A corbel is used to regulate sunlight and skylight, and also facilitates natural ventilation. The house is designed with energy-efficient solutions, using natural resources and locally sourced materials.

The realization of the design involved a meticulous process. Handcrafted brick pieces, designed in the studio, were used to modulate the space. The bricks, made from a mixture of sand and clays from the Baix Camp and arid regions of the Baix Ebre, offer a balance of elasticity and hardness. The color of the brick varies depending on its exposure to the flame, a result achieved through the artisan process.

The house spans an area of 882 sqm and is spread across three levels. The ground floor houses the common areas, including the living room, kitchen, and dining room. The basement includes services with independent access, a guest bedroom, a multipurpose room, and bathrooms with access to the garden and the garage. The upper floor consists of children's bedrooms, a library, and a suite.

The design of SV Villa faced several challenges. The unit of the brick and its dimensions determined the size of the spaces and the module of the steel frames. This metal grid modulates in an elastic way according to the user's needs and desired limits. It is a flexible systematization that provides an implicit order throughout the project.
